savic-analytics

SAP BW/4HANA is an evolution of BW that is completely optimized and tailored to SAP HANA. So, what are SAP BW/4HANA’s major selling points? What are the “themes” or “goals” that will drive the evolution of BW/4HANA? Here they are:

Benefits
  • Simplicity
  • Openness
  • Modern UI
  • High Performance

Simplicity

The number of data objects are Reduced – Depending on count, BW offers 10 to 15 different building blocks to build a data warehouse. In SAP BW/4HANA, there are only 4 which are at least as expressive and powerful as the other BW Objects.

SAP BW/4HANA’s building blocks are more versatile – It Eliminates Data Redundancy and Increase Consistency. They will therefore, be easier to maintain, thus more flexible and less error-prone

SAP BW/4HANA leverage HANA’s data Lifecycle features by automatically distributing data to Memory and Disk – SAP BW/4HANA knows what type of data sits in which table. From that information it can automatically derive which data needs to sit in the hot store (memory) and which data can be put into the warm store (disk or non-volatile RAM) to yield a more economic usage of the underlying hardware

Openness

Customers get Great Benefit in SAP BW/4 HANA models as HANA views – these can be consumed in Visualization tools like Business Objects cloud or Lumira

SAP BW/4HANA offers a managed approach to data warehousing - building blocks are offered for building a data warehouse in a standardized way.

SAP BW/4HANA combines with and complements any native SQL data warehousing approach

Modern UI

From SAP BW or SAP BW-on-HANA to SAP BW/4HANA brings you a new shift from the legacy SAP GUI based UIs for administrators, expert users and DW architects  to modern UIs based on HANA Studio or Fiori-like, browser based UIs. But it is not only about using modern technology and changing the visualization of existing UIs but there has been significant changes in how to define and manage a DW architecture.

Most prominently, there is a new data flow modeler which visualizes the DW architecture in a very intuitive and user-friendly way, thereby moving away from the classic tree-based BW workbench.

Similarly, SAP’s Digital Boardroom, SAP BusinessObjects Cloud, Lumira, Analysis for Office and Design Studio will be the perfect match as analytic clients on top of SAP BW/4HANA.

High Performance

Customers perfectly benefit from moving their current SAP BW to SAP BW∕4HANA, because in this context they will not only experience a premium performance for data loads and analysis but also a highly simplified BW in terms of reduced data layers and a consolidation of modeling objects. This enables much higher agility when it comes to business process changes and new business requirements.

SAP BW/4HANA delivers agile data warehousing solutions to support real-time analysis and decision-making. It offers high-performance and flexible development
